Guidelines for writing musical phrases
- phrases are typically 2-4 measures in length
- Phrase lengths are almost always divisible by 2
- Phrases tend to end with some sort of “punctuation” (belkin-2018 p.17 par.1)
- Phrases seem to have a “hard limit” of 3 motives (belkin-2018 p.17 par.2)
