Waves

This is going to consist of me refreshing my high school math knowledge. Pasted image 20230204124159

  • The crest of the wave is the peak
  • The trough of the wave is the bottom
  • The height of the wave is the distance between the crest and the trough
  • Amplitude (AA) is half of the height of the wave.
    • In sound waves, this value represents the loudness
  • Period (TT) is the time it takes for a wave to travel through a single wavelength
  • Frequency (ff), measured in Hertz (Hz) is the number of times a wave passes through a fixed point in a second
    • f=1Tf = \frac{1}{T}
    • This gives the pitch
  • Wavelength (λλ) is the distance from one crest to the subsequent crest (or trough to trough)1
