Film themes
According to Richards:
A theme must be in some way characteristic in order that it may be recognized as an important element in a film.1
Film themes are almost always one of the following:[citation needed]
- Grammatical themes (by far the most common)
- Motto themes
- Discursive themes
Most film themes can be split into 2 halves, consisting of what may be called a "statement and response" or simply a "beginning and end".2
