Harmonic rhythm
Harmonic rhythm is how long each chord lasts.[1]
In many styles of music (pop, rock, folk, some jazz) harmonic rhythm is consistent: each chord lasts the same number of beats. This is typically at a “per-section” level, that is, the harmonic rhythm of a verse may be different than the harmonic rhythm of a chorus, but the chords in each will all share the same duration.
And just like with everything, an inconsistent harmonic rhythm is found in all styles of music!
