Change of tonality

A change of tonality is a motivic variation. Take a melodic idea and repeat it while “changing its tonality”. This seems like a kind of intervallic expansion or compression.

Example

This example has a motif in G major, and is repeated while changing the tonality to G minor. You could do this with any mode.
