Film themes

According to richards-2016:

A theme must be in some way characteristic in order that it may be recognized as an important element in a film.

Film themes are almost always one of the following:

  1. Grammatical themes (by far the most common) #🔗
  2. Motto themes #🔗
  3. Discursive themes #🔗

Most film themes can be split into 2 halves, consisting of what may be called a “statement and response” or simply a “beginning and end”. (richards-2016 par.3)
