Audio moving from analog to digital

This is my attempt at understanding how audio is converted from analog, e.g. from a microphone, to digital.

The audio starts as an analog input. For example, someone singing into a microphone. The sound the singer makes is a result of their vocal cords vibrating.

The microphone receives the displacement in air from said vibrations and translates it into voltage.
